Weight and Weigh-in Requirements

Weigh-in Time: Wednesday, August 21st

Beef 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Swine 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Goats 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Sheeps 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Minimum livestock weight requirements

Beef 1,050 lbs – no maximum weight
Goats 60 lbs – 115 lbs maximum weight
Hogs 230 lbs – 300 lbs maximum weight
Sheep 100 lbs – 150 lbs maximum weight

  1. No livestock market animals will be weighed until a member of the Lincoln County Junior Livestock Association representative is present to record weights.
  2. Animals qualifying for market or feeder classes will be tagged at the time of weigh-in.
  3. All non-Lincoln County Fair tags must be removed prior to weigh-in. (exception is scrapie tags)
  4. Only tags approved and recorded by Lincoln County Junior Livestock Association will be permitted for sale.
  5. Animals not making weight will be allowed to have one weigh prior to the close of weighing at 8:00 pm
  6. Any animal not meeting the minimum weight requirement will automatically be shown in the Feeder Division and will not be allowed to sell.

Beef

  • Beef will be tagged in the right ear at weigh-in.
  • You may pre-tag your animals at home with tags approved by the Lincoln County Junior Livestock Association, contact your Department Superintendent.
  • Only Market Steers with less than 2-inch horns will be eligible to show.

Goat

  • All goats must have scrapie tag in the ear or tattooed at weigh-in or it will not be weighted.
  • Goats will be tagged in the right ear at weigh-in.
  • You may pre-tag your animals at home with tags approved by the Lincoln County Junior Livestock Association, contact your Department Superintendent.
  • Goats are a maximum of 1 year of age indicated by the milk teeth will be eligible for sale.
  • Only wethers and doe goats are eligible for sale.
  • Market Goats must be polled or dehorned.

Sheep

  • All sheep must have scrapie tags or tattooed at weigh-in, or it will not be weighed.
  • Sheep will be tagged in the right ear at weigh-in.
  • You may pre-tag your animals at home with tags approved by the Lincoln County Junior Livestock Sale Association, contact your Barn Superintendent.
  • Only wether and ewe sheep are eligible for sale.
  • Sheep to be weighed with blankets off, NO wet sheep will be weighed.
  • Heavy muscled sheep or those displaying the Calipyge gene may not be accepted by packers. Exhibitors who have these must make arrangements for a private buyer, they will not be sold through the Lincoln County Junior Livestock sale.

Swine

  • Hogs will be tagged in the right ear, facing toward the back, at weigh-in.
  • You may pre-tag your animals at home with tags approved by the Lincoln County Junior Livestock Association, contact your Barn Superintendent.
  • Hogs will be disqualified from the sale if it shows evidence of piggieness, scars, hernia, foul sheath, sores, bruises, cryptorchidism, and blemishes that impair the carcass cut out.
  • Clipping of swine closer than 3/4 of an inch will be disqualified from sale. Shaving of tail and ears are an exception.
  • The decision to disqualify will be the decision of the Department Superintendent.
