Rules and Information
- Ribbons are awarded on sections based on the Danish system; each exhibit judged on its own merits against perfection.
- All exhibits can be entered Wednesday, August 21st from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
- An exhibitor can enter 1 item in each section.
- All entries in the division must be grown and prepared by the exhibitor.
- Condition of entry is extremely important.
- Select only fruit and vegetables that are uniform in shape and size and free from insect damage and blemishes.
- Root vegetables, wash, but do not scrub and leave 1″ of tops on vegetables.
- Remove outer leaves on onions and rub the dirt off the roots.
- Leave some outer leaves on cabbage, cauliflower and lettuce
- Vine vegetables, leave 1 inch of the steam
- Herbs, 1 bunchs.
- Division 5: Scarecrow must be free standing and no taller than 7 feet.
- Exhibits may be removed by the Superintendent from the displays if they become out of condition because of damage, decay or wilting.
- All exhibits must be picked up at 9:00 am August 27th.
- Exhibits left will be disposed of at the discretion of the superintendent.

Rules and Information:
- All garden sites are to be planned, planted, main-tained, and harvested by the exhibitor.
- All first plantings of gardens need to be done by June 1st of current year.
- All garden sides need to include three different crops: root, leaf, and large variety.
- There must be a minimum of a 3 ft. row of crops.
- Three healthy plants of larger varieties such as cabbage, eggplant, broccoli, tomatoes, etc. and 1 healthy hill of hill variety.
- Garden sites will be judged by the Fruits and Vegetables judge and will be judged approximately two weeks prior to the fair opening.
- Sites will be judged on:
a. Appearance
b. Requirements, see above rule 3
c. Knowledge - All garden sites exhibitors will be present at their garden site on judging day or will be disqualified.
- Photographs of exhibitors in their gardens are to be displayed in the Fruits and Vegetables Department.
- Contestants Educational Garden Posters will also be displayed in the same department.
- It shall be the exhibitor’s responsibility to notify the Fruits and Vegetables Superintendent of all gardens to be judged by August 1st to enable a judging schedule to be set up.
- To qualify for an award for your garden you must exhibit a poster of your garden. This is different than a gardening educational poster.
