Rules and Information

  1. Ribbons are awarded on sections based on the Danish system; each exhibit judged on its own merits against perfection.
  2. All exhibits can be entered Wednesday, August 21st from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
  3. An exhibitor can enter 1 item in each section.
  4. All entries in the division must be grown and prepared by the exhibitor.
  5. Condition of entry is extremely important.
  6. Select only fruit and vegetables that are uniform in shape and size and free from insect damage and blemishes.
  7. Root vegetables, wash, but do not scrub and leave 1″ of tops on vegetables.
  8. Remove outer leaves on onions and rub the dirt off the roots.
  9. Leave some outer leaves on cabbage, cauliflower and lettuce
  10. Vine vegetables, leave 1 inch of the steam
  11. Herbs, 1 bunchs.
  12. Division 5: Scarecrow must be free standing and no taller than 7 feet.
  13. Exhibits may be removed by the Superintendent from the displays if they become out of condition because of damage, decay or wilting.
  14. All exhibits must be picked up at 9:00 am August 27th.
  15. Exhibits left will be disposed of at the discretion of the superintendent.

Registration for online entries opens July 1st. All entries need to be entered  at FairEntry by August 19th.

Garden Sites

Rules and Information:

  1. All garden sites are to be planned, planted, main-tained, and harvested by the exhibitor.
  2. All first plantings of gardens need to be done by June 1st of current year.
  3. All garden sites need to include three different crops: root, leaf, and large variety.
  4. There must be a minimum of a 3 ft. row of crops.
  5. Three healthy plants of larger varieties such as cabbage, eggplant, broccoli, tomatoes, etc. and 1 healthy hill of hill variety.
  6. Garden sites will be judged by the Fruits and Vegetables judge and will be judged approximately two weeks prior to the fair opening.
  7. Sites will be judged on:
    a. Appearance
    b. Requirements, see above rule 3
    c. Knowledge
  8. All garden sites exhibitors will be present at their garden site on judging day or will be disqualified.
  9. Photographs of exhibitors in their gardens are to be displayed in the Fruits and Vegetables Department.
  10. Contestants Educational Garden Posters will also be displayed in the same department.
  11. It shall be the exhibitor’s responsibility to notify the Fruits and Vegetables Superintendent of all gardens to be judged by August 1st to enable a judging schedule to be set up.
  12. To qualify for an award for your garden you must exhibit a poster of your garden. This is different than a gardening educational poster.
