Educational Posters Department

Rules and Information

  1. Posters are due Friday, August 2nd by 5:00 pm at the Fair Office.
  2. Posters will be judged before the Fair & Rodeo.
  3. Posters will be ready for exhibitors to pickup on August 18th.
  4. Posters must not have been previously exhibited in the Lincoln County Fair & Rodeo.
  5. All posters must have an exhibitor tag with name and exhibitor’s number.
  6. Exhibitor tags must be stapled to the bottom right hand corner of the poster.
  7. Posters without an exhibitor’s tag will not be judged.
  8. Poster size needs to be 22″ x 28″.
  9. Posters may not be entered in any other department: Exception: An exhibitor’s poster may be used in a 4-H or FFA demonstration.
  10. Adult exhibitors awarded a white ribbon will not receive premium points.
  11. Work is to be done by exhibitor.
  12. Include name and age on the back of the poster. There are no limits on entries for this department.
  13. If you would like to laminate your poster, you can go to the Auditor’s Office at the Lincoln County Courthouse, prior to August 2nd. Please call, 509-725-4971, to setup a time.

Registration for online entries opens July 1st. All entries need to be entered  at FairEntry by August 19th.

Educational Poster Scoresheet

Education 50 points

  1. Main Idea/Theme—Attract attention, focus your interest and motivate you to take action? Does it stimulate thought, teach facts, or show a process?
  2. Communicates Simply—Is the poster limited to one idea and readable at a glance? Is the message brief and direct?
  3. Originality/Innovation—Does the poster convey an idea with originality?
  4. Accuracy-Is the subject matter accurately represented?

Artistic Presentation 40 points

  1. Power to Attract/Interactive-Does it invite the reader to stop & learn more? Does it cause the audience to want to try it?
  2. Holds Attention-Reader stays to learn more?
  3. Easily Read Lettering-Is it large and legible? Does the combination of colors contribute to effectiveness of poster?
  4. Arrangement-Are the components well-balanced & not overpowering?

Workmanship 10 points

  1. Neatness-Is the work clean and firmly secured? Are draft lines & erasures cleaned up?
  2. Construction Detail-Have materials of different textures and shapes been chosen to create visual dimension?
  3. Medium-Have visual interest materials been selected that add or enhance the poster theme or idea?
  4. Spelling-Are words spelled correctly?
