4-H Rules

Divisions for county events are as follows: Age as of October 1, 2022

Cloverbud Ages 5-7 years old
Junior Ages 8-10 years old
Intermediate Ages 11-13 years old
Senior Ages 14-19 years old

General Rules

  1. Only youth enrolled in Lincoln County 4-H are eligible to enter and compete at the state level.
  2. Enrollment includes:
    a. Those enrolled and carrying a project during the current year.
    b. Those enrolled in a short-term or other 4-H program (e.g. camp, after school, one-day
    workshops, etc.).
  3. All Lincoln County 4-H members are welcome and encouraged to enter in the 4-H Departments.
  4. Junior, Intermediate, and Senior participants who receive a blue ribbon in most divisions of these departments at the Lincoln County Fair qualify to submit their entry at the WA State 4- H Fair, as long as they are enrolled in the appropriate project.
  5. Contact the department superintendent or the WSU Extension Office for more information.
  6. Articles entered must be made or produced during the current year.
  7. Entry forms should be secured ahead of time and prepared before entry day if required.
  8. All 4-H exhibits, contest and activities will be judged by the Danish Award System.
  9. Exhibits are judged against a standard of achievement, and against each other.
  10. All may earn Blue red or white; there is no limit to each award.
  11. Cloverbud 4-H members are not eligible for a place ribbon, only for participation green ribbon, and they will receive 10 points for each entry.

  13. All work is to be done solely by the exhibitor.

Rules for 4-H Animal Projects

  1. All livestock, horses & mules, poultry and rabbits & cavies need to be entered by August 11th.
  2. Entries can be made with FairEntry or pickup an entry form at the Fair for all animals.
  3. The early entry is necessary to plan exhibit space in the barns.
  4. Be sure to read the livestock ownership and management policies.
  5. Everyone exhibiting animals at this Fair will abide by the National Show Ring Code of Ethics.
  6. Appropriate dress code for 4-H will be required.
  7. The following 4-H dress code WILL be strictly enforced:
    *Jeans or slacks with a LONG sleeve collared shirt or blouse that is tucked in.
    *Shirts and blouses are to be buttoned to within 1 or 2 buttons from the top.
    *Boots are HIGHLY recommended, but clean, heavy athletic shoes that are laced to the top and tied or a similar leather shoe can be substituted.
    *NO baseball hats are to be worn in the show ring.
